The Acropolis

Today we started our Greek adventure by taking a private tour in a leather-seated Mercedes, with a friendly driver from Athens. Dominic was a maniac driver but he was hilarious and told us lots of useful, interesting, historical facts - most of which I forget.  🤷🏻‍♀️

The tour started at The Acropolis. It was amazing.  It was cool but sunny and we had spectacular views of the city and ruins.

The Parthenon was dedicated to goddess Athena

The Temple of Athena Nike which was dedicated to Athena-Nike.

Me in front of the Erechtheion with its famous female statues - The Caryatides - that were dedicated to both goddess Athena and god Poseidon. (I took better pictures of the Ionic columns with my Canon  but have no way to access those here. Sorry.)

The Theatre of Dionysus is, supposedly, the first theatre in the whole world.

There are stray cats everywhere in Greece. The Acropolis has some dude feeding them cat food.

The random cats look very serene and self-satisfied. We even saw a fox at The Acropolis. Probably hunting cats.

More to follow.
